Finding your Passion

As we begin a new year, many people are thinking about their life choices and what they want to accomplish.  This entertaining TED Talk will have you rethinking some of your life decisions.  My question for you is this: What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

Finding your Purpose

Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in California became a household name when he wrote The Purpose Driven Life.  In this low-key TED Talk, he describes a concept he calls the “stewardship of influence” and ties that to finding your God-given purpose in life.  He finishes with a question and a challenge.

Defining Your Purpose

As we approach Christmas, with all the time with family that may entail, take a few minutes to consider and/or reconnect with your life purpose.

In his TEDx Talk “How to know your life purpose in 5 minutes,” Adam Leipzig gives us five simple questions that will help us define our purpose in life.

Five simple questions:

  2. what you do
  3. who you do it for
  4. what those people want and need and
  5. how they change as a result of how we do it

Laura Trice, in her TED Talk Remember to say thank you, talks about the importance of thanking the people in your life.  She says, “We talk about world peace. How can we have world peace with different cultures, different languages? I think it starts household by household, under the same roof. So, let’s make it right in our own backyard.”  I don’t think I could have said it better myself!

Why Is Listening So Hard?

Video

Today I want to share with you two very short video clips featuring Dr. Mark Goulston, a business psychiatrist, author of Just Listen, and coauthor of Real Influence.  In these clips from an interview, he shares some observations about how well the average person listens and why people might not listen.

Modern-day Tribes

Video

In this 2009 TEDx Talk, David Logan, Professor of Management at USC, describes about five levels of “tribes,” groups of 20 to 150 people who work, live, or otherwise interact together. He then gives some suggestions for moving your own “tribe” from being groups of individuals to world-changing organizations, steps that we can take to become more unified in our purpose.
